In the ever changing landscape of Eden, there are many wonderful things germinating and growing vigorously, both physically and inspirationally.

Like so many of you experiencing our inclusive Detox' Programs, Eden is constantly undergoing transformation on so many levels. For instance, our newly renovated Garden Retreat is even more beautiful, relaxing, private and luxurious, but there is so much more going on here!

Our 'Gathering Events', continue to provide support for those guests that have completed our programs and wish to connect with people that, like themselves, have learnt to see and appreciate their lives in a very different way. Private counselling sessions also support our guest’s personal and spiritual development to continue at a pace that ensures that every individual is comfortable and that his or her needs are recognized, honoured and met.

Garden News!

Hi Everyone,
If you have, or are about to completed one of our Detox’ Programs then you are invited to join our monthly Gardening Day.  The April Gardening Day will focus on the design and basics of a organic vegetable ‘patch’, ours really isn’t a patch at 70 metres x 30 meters but the principles are always the same and you will be able to apply all you learn to your pot, patio or garden.   Please RSVP as soon as possible if you would like to be involved in the day.

Joining us on our April Gardening Day will be Jeremy Albertson to talk about all things Permaculture and David Kennett.  David had spent the last many years setting up an abundant garden in soil laced with salt, under the most inhospitable conditions.  However, David has managed to create his own garden of Eden and will be sharing with us the methods and means by which he accomplished this astounding feat.

We are passionate about our seed saving initiative and the second medicinal herb seed we shall distribute on the April Gardening Day will be ‘Evening Primrose’.  Never miss another workshop, Gathering or Gardening Day by following us on www.twitter.com  Keep up with everything that’s happening at Eden day by day by clicking on the link on our website www.edenlight.com and follow the prompts.

If you have completed a program at Eden please email us for details regarding dates of our scheduled Gardening and Gathering Days.

Our water needs are now fully met by rainwater catchment and by April we shall be generating 50% of our energy needs through the installation of a Solar system and recycling 90% of our water.

With all that now in hand and the cooler weather just around the corner, we are turning our attention to the creation of 70 meters of Organic vegetable gardens, Espalier orchard, Chicken house and Duck ponds. These will ensure that you will not only be able to gather your own delicious organic food daily but you will also potentially leave with tons of ideas, cuttings and seeds!

Those of you that have not yet been part of the ‘Eden Experience’ will perhaps not appreciate the emphasis we place on inspiration and education.  It has always been our goal to inspire you personally to live healthier, happier and more rewarding lives but we are increasingly aware of our responsibility and ability to share simple tools that will allow you to live consciously and sustainably. This aspect of Eden is evolving into a larger and very enriching part of our vision.

To this end we have enlisted the support and expertise of Jeremy Albertson, a Permaculture expert and teacher, to design and supervise the building of our gardens. He and others will be inspiring many of you, though work shops, busy bees and lectures, to find the space, time and inclination to live more consciously, grow your own food and make the shift to sustainable living.

Our Organic Vegetable Gardens are already progressively able to supplement the needs of our guests (if we can keep the kangaroos, Eagles and possums at bay!) and this will increasingly be the case. For those guests that are imminently joining us for your tailored programs you will be able to gather & enjoy the following crops during your stay.

A mixed variety of French Sorrel, Potatoes, Beetroot, Rainbow Chard, Silver beet, Rhubarb, tomatoes, celery, beans and avocados. The lemonades, mandarins and oranges are a couple on months off.

In the culinary herb garden we have Parsley, Basil, Rosemary, Lemongrass, Sage, Borage, Oregano, Golden marjoram, Chocolate, Peppermint & Apple mint, Fennell, Lemon balm & Thyme.

In the medicinal herb garden we have Gota Kola (Penny Wort), Stinging Nettle, St Johns Wort, Wormwood, Elderberry, Yarrow, Coltsfoot, Fragrant Geranium, Evening Primrose, Plantain, Radium, Dandelion, Marshmallow, Aloe Vera, Valerian, Bay, Lavender and Tansy.

We will Keep you posted...
